The dressings were often reinforced with multiple ABD pads and extra tape to contain the drainage. The periwound skin became increasingly irritated and damaged by the tape. New wound care orders were obtained for an open cell foam dressing secured with a transparent film dressing also changed 3 times a week. This dressing succeeded in containing the drainage and allowing the periwound skin to heal. After 4 weeks of new wound care the patient was discharged from home care and was able to begin chemotherapy the next week
Xeroform gauze covered with an island dressing and changed 3 times a week
3 weeks after initiating foam and transparent film dressing measures 9.8 x 2.2cm
